Coronavirus update 4

To all our patients

We are actively planning for a gradual widening of access, including further enhancements to public areas of the practice, to pre-appointment checks and to our PPE. We will proactively contact those patients we are aware require treatment, or who are due routine appointments.

Under the current guidelines from the Chief Dental Officer for Wales, we are are now at the stage of Low Amber, which is dictated by the UK alert level.

This means for us as a practice we are now able to expand our care to Check-ups which also includes Oral Cancer screening, Hygiene and Oral Health appointments and routine non-invasive treatment.

Hygiene appointments are assessed by patient’s gum health needs and we are currently only able to provide hand scaling and no polishing due to the water scaler and polish are aerosol generating procedures, which can increase the risk of the virus being present in the air for a much longer period of time.

We are able to provide aerosol generating procedures (AGP’s) for Urgent treatments such as root fillings and pain using the drill with water, but these appointments have to be assessed and zoned and the dental team will be in further enhanced PPE.

Our team will contact you by phone to explain the changes we have made at the practice for your safety and they will need to complete a COVID screening form before offering an appointment.

Please be reassured if you are experiencing pain but are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 we are able to refer you to an Urgent Dental Centre for treatment.

In the meantime, our experienced team continue to be here to assist you, throughout our usual opening hours.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for continuing to stand with us to protect our team, our patients and our community throughout this difficult time. If you are worried or need assistance please get in touch, either by phone: 01978 854745 or email smile@chapel-dental.co.uk. We’ll do our best to help, either ourselves or by connecting you to others.

Stay safe and well

Ben, Eleanor, Alison and the team
